July 22 Massadona to Steamboat springs

we met some riders along the road. we asked them how the terrain was out to steamboat springs (110 miles away!) and they said that it was pretty flat out there, but that the climb out of steamboat was rediculously hard. I quote: "You will only get 15 miles in that day" apparently it is tough.

once we got to steamboat springs we went to Andy's house. he was signed up for warmshowers, however he was on a bike hike himself that day. He left his house open for us to use. what a champ! showers at last!

What kind of bike is Steph riding? Pls put pic of bike on blog asap. WE are visiting my cousin & wife in Seattle and they are very big(professionals) in biking.

I just found the card with the website tonight. I am surprised at how far you have gone and over the Rockies too! Stay safe and don't get lost having to cover 60 to advance 30 miles again. Side trips are ok, but best if intended. Have thought of you often, especially looking at Visiting Teaching. This is a great way to get a message to you. We wish you well - good health, beautiful vistas, great people to meet, tireless muscles, fair skys, a following breeze, and a route all down hill! Pam Howell

Ron,

If you scroll down to the entry "Brigham City to Highland, UT" you will see a picture of my bike. It is the Long Haul Trucker...made by Surly. Bill has the same bike...just a different color.

Yes, the climb out of Steamboat is killer . . . I have only ever gone down it which is the most thrilling ride ever. You make me really miss Colorado.
